Practice. Tonight, take the thing you most recently typed to someone that actually mattered, and say it to them by voice instead, a call or a voice note. Notice what the channel returns that the text could not. Then ask the four REAL questions of the one app you opened most today, and let the answers decide what it deserves from you tomorrow.

The REAL test is the corpus's evaluative lens, and until now its four dimensions could not be walked in order: their bricks were scattered across the connection and economics walls. This course lays them as a row. Each article is one question with its research and its named cases, and the course ends where the lens condenses into the single question worth memorizing.

Practice. Choose one product you build or one you cannot put down, and write the four verdicts in one sentence each: what it makes of the people, whether it reaches the body, which self it rewards, and where its ending lives. Then carry the regenerative question for one day, and let the evening's answer decide what that product deserves from you tomorrow.

The counterpart on the other side of the screen cannot be wounded by anything you do, and that turns out to matter more than whether its answers are any good. These articles follow the consequence from the philosophy to the field data: why an exchange with nothing at stake comes out weightless, what the system structurally lacks, why its output beats the human baseline anyway, where practitioners draw the line regardless, what saying so costs them, and what the agreeable surface does to the person in front of it.

Practice. For one day, keep a short tally of your exchanges with a machine and mark the ones where you finished owing nobody anything. Most of them will qualify, and that is the point rather than the indictment. Then have one exchange with a person in which their capacity to be hurt by your answer is exactly why the answer matters, and take the time it needs. Compare the weight of the two afterward, and let the difference decide what you hand over next week.

An honest claim is a harder document to write than either an evasion or a data dump, and it is the only one of the three that survives a second year. These articles walk what it contains, from the difference between a promise and a passing arrangement to the direction a system's failures fall. The order runs outward: what you say, whether anything backs it, where it stops, how it is presented, and what happens on the worst day.

Practice. Take one promise your product, your resume, or your profile currently makes, and write four lines about it. Whether it is a guarantee or just how things happen to be arranged right now. Whether anything actually checks it, or whether it is only requested. What it excludes, in the same plain words as the promise itself. And which way it fails when it fails. Then fix the wording rather than the reader, because every one of those four lines was already true before you wrote it down.

Five rooms on the difference between an approval and a record of one. A marker that has to travel in the diff it approves, an exception list allowed to move in only one direction, a permission strong enough to fail the build, a disclosure the format refuses to call reversible, and an erasure that actually works. The through-line is not diligence. It is whether the shape of the record leaves room for the thing a person actually decided.

Practice. Take one approval you gave this month, a merged change, a signed-off document, a yes in a thread. Find where the reason for it is written down. If the reason lives anywhere other than alongside the thing it approved, move it, or write one sentence there now. Then notice how much of what you approved had no recorded reason at all, and whether you could reconstruct any of them today.

Four rooms on how things end well, walked from one person at a delete button to a company handing over everything it holds. The rite comes first because it is what people actually want; the engineering follows because a rite performed over a false promise is worse than none. Underneath all four is a single claim about trust, that the way out is the thing which makes the way in safe.

Practice. Find one account, archive, or subscription you have been keeping out of vague dread rather than value. Close it deliberately. Mark the closing somehow, a note to yourself, a line in a journal, a sentence said out loud, and pay attention to what the marking does. The difference you are looking for is between having lost something and having finished it, and it is the whole reason the delete button deserves a ceremony.

Being measured is something done to you, usually by an apparatus with no stake in the outcome. These articles walk what an honest instrument owes the person on the other end of it, from the width that belongs beside every score to the record that has to remember what everyone believed at the time. The order is deliberate: each one is a different way a measurement can be true and still be a lie about the person it describes.

Practice. Take one score someone has given you, or one your product gives other people, and write three lines about it. What is its missing error bar, honestly estimated. Whose answers were used to build the scale it sits on. And what a person would have to do to appeal it, including whether the record could still show what it said before. If any of the three cannot be answered, you have found the work, and it is smaller than it looks.

Care is easy to declare and hard to instrument. These articles walk what happens when a product that means well hands the question of whether it is working to a number, and the number turns out to have been chosen, shaped, or pointed in a direction nobody examined. The order runs from the sign of a metric to the independence of a measure to the accuracy that flatters a system while describing a smaller life, then down to the parameter underneath and out to the person the whole apparatus was built to help.

Practice. Take one tool that claims to care for its users, including yours. Write three lines about it. What its graduation metric is, meaning what it records when someone no longer needs it. What question its evaluation begs, meaning where the thing being asked and the thing being proven are the same sentence. And which parameter somebody chose once, on behalf of everyone, without writing down who paid for it. If none of the three exists, you have not failed the exercise. You have measured the tool.

Practical wisdom is the oldest name for the thing these systems do not have, and the gap it names is not a gap in what they know. These articles walk it from the 1956 decision that made the whole argument confusing, through the ladder metaphor that keeps promising the gap will close on its own, to the one test a builder can run in an afternoon and the placement discipline that follows from the result.

Practice. Find one decision you were about to hand to a machine this week. Write a single sentence on what the machine has at stake in how that decision turns out. Then write who carries the consequence if it goes wrong. Where those two sentences name different parties, keep the decision, and let the machine do the gathering and the drafting that got you to it.

Practice. Pick one system you operate or depend on and place it on the agency spectrum in writing: which of the four threshold criteria does it meet today, and which could it meet under pressure? Then find one rule in your life that works by asking for good behavior, and sketch what removing the path would look like instead.

A view that hides and ships, a pipeline that finishes and sends, an architecture with no path to build a leak out of, an acceptance contract satisfied by an unusable screen, and a fact settled twice. The last two come from a single review and mark the honest limit of the argument the first three make.

Practice. Pick one thing you keep private by hiding it rather than by placing it. A document in a shared drive with restricted view settings, a file in a repository marked internal, a panel that renders for some people and not others. Ask a plain question about it. If the person you are hiding it from had a copy of the container, would they have the contents? Where the answer is yes, you do not have a boundary, you have a preference, and moving the material is usually a five-minute job you have been deferring for months.

The order is deliberate. Each room narrows what the next one is allowed to claim, so that by the end the discipline looks less like modesty and more like the only version that survives a reader who checks. Underneath all six is a single argument, that a privacy claim is worth exactly what it says about its own limits, and nothing at all without them.

Practice. Open the privacy page of one product you actually use, and take its strongest sentence, the one doing the most persuasive work. Then put this course's three questions to it in writing. What does this sentence exclude, and is the exclusion published by them or discovered by you. Where is the window, meaning what is still on a device or in a derivative after you have asked for it to be gone. And who is the adversary this threat model refuses to name, which is almost always the party holding the database. Write down the three answers. Whichever one you cannot answer at all is the most useful thing you learned today.

Six rooms on the same question, which is what a product does when the number it reports upward and the outcome it exists for pull in opposite directions. The order runs from the smallest unit to the largest, a single pause before a reply, then the shape of a week, then the boundary of a commercial contract, then a namespace, then an architecture, and finally the thing a business would most like to sell. The through-line is that none of these refusals survives as a value. Each one survives only where it was written into something that costs an argument to reverse.

Practice. Find the one feature in your product, or the one habit in your routine, that exists because a metric wanted it rather than because a person did. Design its absence in enough detail to be costed, then write two things down in plain sentences: what removing it would cost you, and who it would protect. If you cannot name the person it protects, you have found something else, and the honest move is to keep the feature and stop calling it care.

Automation is usually argued as a question of capability, as though the only thing to settle were how much a machine can do. These articles argue the other question, which is what it may close. A rule that splits, a scanner that cannot tell a mention from a use, a claim format that will not let its author approve it, an evidence ledger honest enough to grade its own fix as unknown, and a layout broken by two components that each decided correctly.

Practice. Take one automated check you rely on, a linter rule, a metric alert, a form validator, and write its rule out in full. Draw a line through it separating the half a machine can settle from the artifact alone and the half that is judgment being faked. Then demote the faked half to a note addressed to a person, with the reason it cannot be automated written into the check itself, so the next reader inherits the finding rather than the noise.

Practice. Open the last thing a machine wrote for you that you shipped. Without opening anything else, write down why it is safe: what it assumes about the world, what happens on the empty and hostile cases, and which decision in it is load-bearing. Then check, and notice which half of that exercise was the actual job.

These articles walk the whole loop, from refusing the first answer, through firing and signing what the refusal produced, to the harder problem of it reaching someone on the day it applies, and out into the two conversations that keep the work attached to a life.

Practice. Take one thing you have been circling for months and cannot yet say cleanly. Tell one person, out loud, that you are going to work it out this week, and let them expect an answer from you. Then take it to the machine and refuse the first draft, and the second, until what comes back is a sentence you could not have written on Monday. Fix it, with your name and the date on it. Then go back to the person who heard the intention, tell them what you found, and let them ask what you are going to do about it.

A machine-assembled corpus fails in ways a human-assembled one does not, quietly and at the joins, and the corrections are all forms of writing things down before they are needed. Practice. Pick one document a machine wrote that you now rely on. Find its seams, the places where two different pieces of work were joined, and read across each one for a topic that quietly changed. Note whether anything about the document marks it as machine-born, and if nothing does, add the mark yourself. Then take its most load-bearing claim and write the one sentence stating what would have to be true before you would drop it. You now know three things about that document you did not know this morning, and the third one will outlive you.

Practice. List what filled your last week in two columns, paid-to-be-over and paid-to-be-stayed-in. Choose one escape item to automate or shrink without sentiment, and one savor item to protect by removing something fast from around it. Then run the swap test on your own role, and write down the one thing that refused to transfer.

Restraint is easy to assert, which is why the argument for it has to be built out of things a reader can check. These articles open with two measurements of what unrestricted help costs, one taken on experts and one on students, and then follow the argument into the accounts. A payout formula that pays partly for tomorrow's app open, a company that proved its product worked and left the consumer market anyway, and a test small enough to run on your own subscriptions before dinner. The through-line is that incentives get written down somewhere, and the writing is more often public than anyone expects.

Practice. Run the commerce excision test on two things. The product you pay for most happily, and the product you resent paying for. Strip the pricing, the plan badges, the usage counters, and the upgrade prompt from each, and write down what stops working. Then write one sentence per product on what that result tells you about which of the two respects you, and keep both sentences somewhere you will see them the next time you are deciding what to subscribe to.

These articles begin with what codification can still do, then walk the remainder from licensed methodology to the question of where a person belongs in a workflow once the places judgment sits can be named. The cases are coaching, therapy, and early childhood education, and none of the argument is confined to them.

Practice. Take one method you learned from a book or a course and one you learned from a person. For each, write down a single decision the written version cannot make for you, then say which of the four dimensions that decision lives in, decision trees, micro-timing, interpretive frameworks, or feedback loops. The second list will be longer and more specific than the first, and the difference between them is what you were actually taught by being near someone.
